In addition, Russian artillery is currently shelling Ukraine’s positions in the Donbas at night to destroy them and attack them during the day. Unlike the first six weeks, the Russian troops advanced no longer quickly and in columns, but “slowly, wide, and with tremendous support from the infantry.” The attack will be secured by more armored trains. Thus, the Russian units only advance at a speed of about 1.5 km per hour, but this is deliberate and not a sign of weakness, the military explains. If the Russians capture Donbass, Reisner initially suspects a break in fighting, during which both sides will recover and regroup. Reisner is convinced that the war will not end this summer. The bitter truth is also this: “Putin can win the war,” he told “the world.” In this case, winning means “that Putin has much more Ukraine after this armed conflict than before.”
